Psychosocial Hazards in the Workplace 

What are psychosocial hazards? 

Psychosocial hazards are aspects of work that have the potential to cause psychological or physical harm. 

In the ACT, there are 14 common psychosocial hazards that should be considered when looking at the safety of workers.

  • Job Demands 

  • Low Job Control 

  • Poor Support 

  • Lack of Role Clarity 

  • Poor Organisational Change Management 

  • Inadequate Reward and Recognition 

  • Poor Organisational Justice 

  • Traumatic Events or Material 

  • Remote or Isolated Work 

  • Poor Physical Environment 

  • Violence or Aggression 

  • Bullying 

  • Harassment, including Sexual Harassment 

  • Conflict or Poor Workplace Relationships
