Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act – the SRC Act
Are you employed by the Commonwealth or by a Commonwealth Authority?
Are you employed by an authority or body established by the Australian Capital Territory or the Australian Capital Territory Government?
You’re covered by the SRC Act
Injury (s5A): ‘a physical or mental injury arising out of, or in the course of, the employee’s employment’, or ‘an aggravation of a physical or mental injury (other than a disease) suffered by an employee (whether or not that injury arose out of, or in the course of, the employee’s employment), that is an aggravation that arose out of, or in the course of, that employment’.
Notifying your employer [s53(1)(a)]: As soon as practicable.
Worker’s Compensation Act 1951 – ACT Worker’s Compensation
All workers in the ACT that aren’t covered by the federal system. Compensation provided by private insurance companies.
Injury (s4): ‘a physical or mental injury (including stress) ... includes aggravation, acceleration or recurrence of a pre-existing injury ... arising out of, or in the course of, the worker’s employment ...’
Notifying your employer [s93(1)]: As soon as possible.
Employer notifies insurer [s93(2)]: within 48 hours of becoming aware.
